Fairfax Supervisor Pat Herrity says the county should allow a land owner in Clifton to use his property for wine making. The land owner, Kirk Wiles, wants to start Paradise Springs Winery on his 37-acres in a sparsely-populated, upscale neighborhood. It would be the first winery in Fairfax County history. But county staffers told Wiles his land isn't zoned for wine making and threatened to sue him if he moved forward with his plans. The Board of Supervisors is meeting behind closed doors this morning to discuss the possibility of taking Wiles to court. Herrity, a Republican who represents the Clifton area, says there's consensus among the Board not to do this, which would clear the way for Paradise Springs to become a reality.
