VA Governor's Candidates Pick Up Pace for Labor Day

Gubernatorial candidates in Virginia used Labor Day festivities to try and meet as many constituents as possible. Democrat Creigh Deeds and Republican Bob McDonnell started the day in conservative Buena Vista... after that, both candidates headed to Covington, one of the few Virginia communities with a substantial union population.

Some elected officials were conspicuous by their absence. Neither U.S. Sen. Jim Webb nor his fellow Democrat Senator Mark Warner attended. It's the first Labor Day parade Warner has missed since 2003.
