


(September 4) ART AFTER HOURS The VisArts center in Rockville hosts an Art After Hours session tonight from 6:30 to 9pm. You can browse the galleries while mingling with the resident artists, and even make your own masterpiece during a participatory painting activity, no experience necessary.
(September 6) BURN YOUR BOOKES The theater troupe Taffety Punk announces a sneak preview for its new play, Burn Your Bookes at the Kennedy Center's Family Theatre Sunday night at 6. The show is part of the 8th Annual Page to Stage Festival. "Burn Your Bookes" is about alchemy and poetry in the Renaissance, exploring the sex, drugs and baroque'n'roll behind notorious alchemist Edward Kelley's pursuit of the philosopher's stone, capable of turning your run-of-the-mill into gold.
(Sept 4-Dec 4) TRUTH OR DARE The Catholic University of America hosts a series of philosophy lectures through December 4th. You can join outstanding scholars and thinkers beginning today at 2pm for the 2009 Issues of Truth as they tackle the big questions, from the love of truth to the curiosity of human creation. The series has been presented every year since 1967. This year is dedicated to Monsignor Robert Sokolowski for his work on those "big questions."
