Virginia's tourism slogan could become the top slogan on the Madison Avenue Walk of Fame. The state tourism office says supporters can vote for "Virginia is for Lovers" at www. advertisingweek.com/wof. Winners will be inducted into the Walk of Fame at the end of September.

The nomination coincides with the 40th anniversary of the slogan that was launched in 1969. It is the country's longest-running state tourism slogan. Forbes.com named it as one of the top 10 tourism marketing campaigns of all time. Tourism generates $19 billion in revenue, supports 210 thousand jobs, and provides $1.2 billion in state and local taxes according to Virginia officials.
