When it comes to health care reform, Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen says the times have changed, but the rhetoric hasn't.
Speaking to seniors old enough to remember the passage of Medicare in the 1960's, Van Hollen took on the term "socialized medicine." When Van Hollen called Medicare "a very successful program," the crowd at Leisure World in Montgomery County applauded.
Van Hollen's forum on health care was civil, and didn't have the raucous protests that have marred many others, since Leisure World is a gated community.
Van Hollen finished the meeting by guaranteeing that any bill passed by the House of Representatives would include the so-called public option.
