Activists from D.C.'s gay community are organizing a "call to action" to promote the legalization of same-sex marriage in the city. Council member David Catania says he plans to introduce a bill by the end of the year that would allow same-sex wedding ceremonies in Washington.

Activists are planning a meeting next month to outline how residents can help the anticipated legislation succeed. The gathering is scheduled for 7pm on September 30th, at the True Reformer Building on U Street NW.
