A lawsuit accusing a Maryland town of conspiring to prevent a Muslim group from buying a farm to build a mosque has been settled. U.S. District Court Judge Richard Bennett dismissed the suit. Details were not immediately available. The suit was filed last year by developer David Moxley and his father Robert. They had planned to sell the land in Walkersville for about $6 million to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA.
The group wanted the 224-acre farm to build a mosque and religious retreat. In February 2008, a zoning appeals board in the town voted unanimously to deny the group of largely Pakistani immigrants permission to use area farmland for religious purposes.
