(August 21) HALL MONITORS IN SILVER SPRING Locally-grown band The Hall Monitors hits the Quarry House Tavern stage in Silver Spring, Maryland, tonight at 8. The garage rock group plays creative, original tunes that ride the range of blues to punk and back. Normally found traveling up and down the Atlantic Coast, you can catch them on their way to an international gig in Spain.

(August 22 & 23) LUCKETT'S FAIR If you're in Loudoun County this weekend, Luckett's Fair gets underway just north of Leesburg, Virginia, tomorrow and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. This old time country-style gathering features bluegrass music, arts and crafts, from Blue Ridge Mountain rock jewelry to Moon Dance pottery, pony rides and a petting zoo.

(August 22) DANCING THROUGH THE DOOR The Dance Institute of Washington hosts an open house tomorrow from noon to 4pm. The tappers, ballerinas and hip-hoppers are gearing up for this fall's courses, and the Dance Institute is offering free classes and performances by their own students and the Washington Reflections Dance Company.

The virtual reality company Oculus is close to releasing a headset for games, movies and other entertainment. The company premiered an animated short called Henry that will come with the headsets.
