Baseball fans soon will be able get to Nationals Park in Washington by boat. That's thanks to a water taxi service that will be available from a public pier at the new Diamond Teague Park on the Anacostia River, just across Potomac Avenue from the baseball stadium.
D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty says six local charter companies will operate about a dozen vessels linking the park to locations including National Harbor in Prince George's County, Maryland and Old Town, Alexandria in Virginia. The mayor says it's part of a commitment to building a vibrant waterfront along the Anacostia. The District is working on a second pier at the park for smaller, non-motorized recreational boats.
