Former Maryland governor Robert Ehrlich is weighing a rematch with the state's current top politician. Republican candidates are already expressing interest in challenging Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley next year. Delegate Patrick McDonough has announced he's considering a run. And Mike Pappas, an attorney from Baltimore County, has announced he is seeking the Republican nomination to run against O'Malley. But former Governor Robert Ehrlich is watching carefully from the sidelines for now. Richard Hug is a leading state Republican fundraiser and he is confident Maryland's first GOP governor in a generation will have a hard time keeping himself out of the field. Hug says he believes Ehrlich will run and is "looking at the situation very hard." Henry Fawell, an Ehrlich spokesman, says the former governor is comfortable waiting to make a decision, like he did in 2002 when he waited until March to formally announce his bid.
