Organizers are trying to bring a Grand Prix style race to the streets of Baltimore. The Baltimore Racing Development has received the go-ahead from city leaders to secure an Indy Racing League event for 2011. The group says the street-car race could bring in as much as 100 million dollars in revenue to the city.
In comparison, the Preakness has an economic impact of about 60 million dollars. Baltimore Racing Development intends to complete traffic and noise studies for the area and meet with local community and business leaders, while continuing to negotiate with the IRL.
