February 28, 2008 - (Feb 29) WASHINGTON WRITERS: BEYOND THE CAPITOL Acclaimed Washington writers Edward P. Jones and Dinaw Mengestu will read from their newest tomes at the Folger Shakespeare Theater tomorrow night at 8. They'll explore D.C. during "Washington Writers: Beyond the Capitol," the city through the eyes of the authors. Jones, a DC native, wrote "The Known World" in five weeks (after thinking about it for 10 years) and won the Pulitzer Prize; Ethiopian immigrant Mengestu fled Communism, attended Georgetown and authored "The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears."
(Feb 29-Mar 1) BLUES IN OLNEY Guy Davis, a modern-era musician and son of stage and screen legends Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, brings blues for the whole family to the Olney Theatre. On Saturday afternoon at 4, he'll make his harmonica bark like a dog, grunt like a pig, and rattle like a train in a G-rated show for all ages complete with half-price "lap seats" for audience members under the age of 3. Davis will present adult versions of his show at tomorrow and Saturday nights.
(Feb 29-Mar 2) US Also tomorrow night, "Us" opens at Dance Place, a fast, funny and furious one-man show of dance and music, ricocheting between Broadway musicals and radical politics. It was nominated for a 2005 New York Drama Desk Award for Best Solo performance and it's aimed at mature audiences.

Jacks had contact with at least five city agencies before the children's bodies were found in their home last month.
