Young Playwrights Theater's New Play Festival
Monday, April 22, 2013 - Tuesday, April 23, 2013
Join Young Playwrights Theater as they celebrate and honor new work created by students in the In-School Playwriting Program. Out of more than 850 eligible plays, these 12 playwrights distinguished themselves with their imaginative and compelling scripts.
On April 22, join them as they present seven fun, family-friendly plays, delving into worlds where contemporary teens meet fairy tale princesses and the battle of cats and dogs gets a super-powered twist.
On April 23, five of our older students present daring new works, exploring themes that range from the struggle to rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Sandy to a sloth with an appetite for humans. *Plays on April 23 may not be appropriate for children under age 13.
Funded in part by the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts. Major support also provided by the Mayor's Office on Latino Affairs (OLA), the Capitol Hill Community Foundation, Wells Fargo, Capital One Bank, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and Pitney Bowes.
