How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Numbers: Thursday, April 24, 2014 @7:00pm
Marketplace has just announced the guests who will be joining Kai and the Marketplace Team for Marketplace Live at Strathmore.
AOL veteran Jim Bankoff founded and head of Vox Media, delivering the
Internet's most valuable digital storytelling, online communities,
advertising and audiences. Vox Media's websites are category leaders
visited by millions of Internet users every day. All Vox Media sites are
built upon its world-class proprietary publishing platform, Chorus.
Douglas Elmendorf, Congressional Budget Office, works on budget
policy, Social Security, Medicare, health care, financial markets,
macroeconomic analysis and forecasting. He has also been the Bernstein
Scholar in Economic Studies at the Brooking Institution; senior
economist at the White House's Council of Economic Advisers; and deputy
assistant secretary for economic policy at the Treasury Department.
"How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Numbers" is a live
event that will provide an irreverent, insightful look at the numbers in
our lives. Numbers in headlines, numbers without context. How do we
make sense of what they all really mean?
Join Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal — plus reporters Adriene Hill,
Stacey Vanek Smith, Lizzie O'Leary, Rob Schmitz and Paddy Hirsch — as
they humanize the numbers. It's an evening of radio, with sound
elements, interviews and engaging storytelling. What Marketplace does
best, but in person, on stage, and in D.C.
