Life Pieces To Masterpieces provides opportunities for African-American males in greater Washington, D.C., by developing character, unlocking potential, and empowering them to transform their lives and communities. The organization's programs include strategies that have dramatically improved the life experiences for participants – called apprentices – who range from 3 to 25 years old. Apprentices work alongside artists to channel their life experiences into paintings, prose and poetry, dance and musical works, and other creative projects. Life Pieces To Masterpieces also provides homework assistance, tutoring, literacy training, math skill development, and computer training. Apprentices may take advantage of additional program components such as after-school tutoring, literacy training, math skill improvement, leadership development, foreign language study, and health/wellness education. Together, all programs provide a foundation for a successful global learning experience and transition to productive adulthood.
