City Kids Wilderness Project is a nonprofit organization outdoor education program for underserved and at-risk inner-city youths from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

City Kids uses outdoor enrichment activities as a platform to build self-confidence, improve academic performance and develop leadership skills. Youth enter the program as sixth graders and are invited to continue with City Kids through four years of school year and summer camp programming, and four or more years as a part of the Internship & Transition Program, where they will gain access to summer internships, post-secondary career educational and career support, as well as alumni services. During the summer, students travel to Broken Arrow Ranch in Jackson, Wyo., where they participate in recreational and other enrichment activities in the natural environment. Students who return to the camp work their way up each year, assuming increased responsibility. During the school year, City Kids also provides support for middle school students in the form of an afterschool program, where they learn outdoor living skills, photography, and environmental education. All City Kids programming is provided at no cost to students or their families.
