88.3 Ocean City: Treatment for adults and children with mental illnesses

Each year, approximately 25 percent of adults are diagnosable for a mental disorder*, and just more than 20 percent of children have or will develop a seriously debilitating mental disorder.** One organization in Maryland offers treatment and assistance to individuals of all ages coping with mental health issues.

Crossroads Community, Inc. has been working to provide appropriate support for adults living with mental illness in Kent and Queen Anne’s counties since 1984. Since then, Crossroads has extended its psychiatric rehabilitation and case management services to adults and children throughout five counties and has expanded to provide clinical services through Corsica River Mental Health Services. Crossroads provides services in six different areas to fulfill the needs of its clients on an individual basis. Those areas include: adult, child and adolescent, case management, respite, employment and mental health clinic services. By providing one-on-one mentoring, group living programs, residential rehabilitation programs, recovery focused group programming, paired with logistical services for individuals in the mental health system, Crossroads Community, Inc. provides a community where people with mental health needs recover and are treated with dignity, respect and equality.
