Play associated audio

The Epilepsy Association of the Eastern Shore (EAES) is a Maryland nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness of epilepsy and to enabling people with epilepsy to overcome the challenges associated with their condition. EAES participates in the national School Alert program, which is designed to educate teachers and other adult members of the school community how to recognize the signs and symptoms of seizure disorders and respond to the special needs of children with epilepsy. The organization also provides free presentations to third grade elementary school students in the Eastern Shore. The performances are focused at providing the children with a thorough understanding of epilepsy, its effects, and first-aid for seizures. In addition to advocating on behalf of individuals that are handicapped, EAES offers people with epilepsy and other developmental disabilities a chance to enhance their quality of life through educational achievement by providing deserving candidates with college scholarships. Housing, clinical, financial, and vocational assistance programs are also available to qualified candidates needing assistance.
