Annapolis Chorale Lights Musical Fireworks
November 13-14
Expect the grand and beautiful sound of a large chorus singing when The Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of J. Ernest Green, present "Musical Fireworks," the first classics concerts of the 37th season on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. The Annapolis Chamber Orchestra sets the tone for these majestic and explosive concerts with Handel’s “Music for the Royal Fireworks.” Then, the 170 voices of the Annapolis Chorale ring through the hall as they sing Anton Dvorak’s “Te Deum.” With singers and musicians surrounding the audience, the Chorale follows with two of opera’s grandest moments, the “Te Deum” from Puccini’s Tosca and the “Regina Coeli” from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. Bringing all to a spectacular close is John Rutter’s exciting “Gloria.” Soprano Fatinah Tilfah and baritone Shouvik Mondle join the Chorale for these performances. The Chorale offers two opportunities to experience “Musical Fireworks,” the Nov. 13 Casual Friday event at 7:30 p.m., which includes remarks by Mr. Green and a question-and-answer session with guest soloists, and Saturday’s more formal 8 p.m. performance on Nov. 14 that begins with a pre-concert talk by Mr. Green at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $34-$37 for adults, $12 for students and are on sale now at the Maryland Hall Box Office at 410-280-5640 or www.marylandhall.org. There is a $3 per-ticket service charge for individual tickets. The Chorale offers free Student Rush tickets one hour before concert time for students with a valid ID.
