Before cable TV, the arbiters of language -- radio or TV newsmen such as Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, David Brinkley, Chet Huntley -- were the voices we heard when English was perfect, often because it was scripted. But rarely, even if it wasn't scripted, did we hear the mis-usages and the solecisms which are so common place today.
