Sidsel Overgaard
Reporter
Sidsel covers a wide array of issues, but is particularly interested in the environment, transportation, immigration and Washington, D.C.’s astounding rate of growth.
Sidsel Overgaard moved to DC in the summer of 2003, thinking it might prove a happy medium between New York City and Honduras, the last two places she'd called home. She was sort of right.
Sidsel has held a variety of positions since coming to WAMU: morning producer, Youth Voices director and reporter. In all these roles, she has been motivated by a commitment to the mission of public radio and a desire to mentor the next generation as others have mentored her. From her first stint as an intern at Vermont Public Radio to her work as a reporter and producer at WNYC radio in New York, Sidsel has learned primarily through a combination of trial by fire and shared words of wisdom.
Sidsel holds a B.A. in History from Carleton College in Minnesota and hails from Penn Yan, NY, home of the world’s largest buckwheat pancake. She can be reached at sovergaard@wamu.org.
