John Gilroy
Resident Computer Guy, Tech Tuesday
John Gilroy is the Director of Business Development at SolutionsDevelopers in Reston, Va., which provides software development and IT consulting for the Microsoft platform.
John has been a regular contributor to WAMU 88.5 since April 1991. He holds a master’s degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, and has two decades of experience in the world of technology. He won an award from the prestigious IEEE Computer Society for his contributions to the world of communications on WAMU.
In addition to his radio work, John has published 40 magazine articles and 523 columns in The Washington Post. The FTC included John as a panelist at their most recent spam conference. John has been invited to speak to NIST, IEEE, The Association of Computing Professionals, The Air Force Association, Direct Marketing Association, Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Maryland Technology Council, and countless others. In 2002, John participated in a live C-SPAN discussion of e-commerce with the Secretary of the Interior. This lead to over one hundred television appearances including Dateline NBC, CNN, C-SPAN, ABC Nightline, as well as Fox, CBS, and ABC local affiliates.
