Dorie Anisman
Talk Show Operator
Dorie Anisman moved to Washington, D.C., to work at the Center for Applied Linguistics, after teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL) and running a writing lab. After becoming a parent and wife, she again taught some ESOL and also sold Discovery Toys. It was during that time that she discovered WAMU 88.5.
After two years of volunteering, she became Dorie Anisman "on the phones." She truly enjoys getting to talk to listeners and hearing their concerns in the world around them. During the time she's been answering callers for Diane Rehm and Kojo Nnamdi, Dorie has begun to feel famous. Now people say "Oh, you're that Dorie Anisman! Now, tell me what Diane and Kojo are really like!"
When she's home, Dorie prefers to not answer the phone--she'd rather do family things, play with the cats, and work in the garden.
