Bill Redlin
Mid-day host
Bill Redlin is WAMU 88.5's local mid-day host. He took the mid-day post in September 2008, after 23 years as the local host of Morning Edition.
A Washington resident since 1981, Redlin was press secretary to Senator Nancy Kassebaum of Kansas and a correspondent for the Mutual Broadcasting System. He served as news director and then program director of KANU in Lawrence, Kansas from 1974 until 1984. During his tenure, the station won numerous Associated Press Awards for news gathering, as well as Peabody and Armstrong awards. Additionally, Redlin was a weekend anchor at KMBZ/KMBR in Kansas City and a frequent contributor to National Public Radio, Voice of America, and other networks. He has also served a term as president of the Association of News Broadcasters of Kansas.
Bill Redlin is a native of Illinois. He earned a degree in journalism from the University of Dayton and studied radio, film and television at the University of Kansas. He is currently a trustee of the William Allen White Foundation, which is based at the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. Redlin's interests include jazz and cooking. He and his wife Nina, a pharmacist, have a son and a daughter.
