Station takes top place in the market in Arbitron winter survey

WAMU 88.5 is the most listened to radio station in Washington, D.C., with a 7.5* share of the audience. The new ranking was released last week in Arbitron’s Winter 2012 Survey, which measured average weekly listening from January 5 through March 28. The winter survey marks the first time in station history that it has been ranked No. 1 in the market.

“We have a clear vision for the station's programming both on air and online: a commitment to local, national, and international news and analysis; cutting-edge interactive conversations; and creative music and entertainment,” said WAMU 88.5 Program Director Mark McDonald. “With our devoted and talented staff, we're planning for the next level—more in-depth and investigative news, fostering new talent, and engaging even more deeply with our local communities."
