(Aug. 17-19) “Who I am” vs. “What you see”
A new theater group called Tricksters and Truth Tellers puts on a show called Tricksters and Truth Tellers all weekend at Theatre Project on West Preston Street in Baltimore. The piece is inspired by the lives of the group members and the lessons they’ve learned with age. They use music, film, and performance to explore perception and reality as they relate to our intrapersonal relationships.

(Aug. 17-23) The story of underachiever Abe and over-medicated Miranda
One very quirky relationship is presented on the big screen beginning today at Washington’s E Street Cinema. Acclaimed satirist Todd Solondz ventures into slightly lighter territory with Dark Horse. After a whirlwind courtship, an avid 30-something toy collector in a state of arrested development marries an over-medicated 30-something in a state of arrested development. The toy collector retreats into his subconscious when his crippling self-doubt begins to undermine his almost realized dream life.

(Aug. 17-Sept. 3) The Art of The Outdoors
You can get out while staying in through Labor Day at The Art League in Alexandria. ‘Scapes features area artists taking on landscapes literally and figuratively.
