Police Arrest Laurel Man In July Fourth Shooting

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department have arrested a 22-year-old from Maryland in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on the Fourth of July.

Members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Calvin Shaw of Laurel, Md. He will be charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old Crevontai Key.

The shooting occurred at about 8 p.m. on the night of the Fourth in the Fort Totten neighborhood in Northwest D.C.

Police say a crowd of people was watching a small fireworks display when shots were fired. One of the victims, Crevontai Key, later died from his industries. Three other victims were admitted to a local hospital with serious injuries.
