Alexandria Mayor Candidates Avoiding Debate

Former Alexandria Vice Mayor Andrew Macdonald says incumbent Mayor Bill Euille is avoiding a one-on-one debate in the campaign for mayor, which will be on the ballot in November for the first time in the city's long history this year.

Euille disagrees, pointing to a Chamber of Commerce event that will feature both Euille and Macdonald in addition to all candidates for City Council.

Macdonald supporters say they want to see the mayor defend his record at a separate event, but Democratic Committee leaders say time has run out to schedule an event between now and Election Day.
